Shakespeare’s Sibling Scene Study
Explore Elizabethan family dynamics through the sisters and brothers in Shakespeare’s plays. Scenes will be assigned during the first class.
Tennessee Williams Scene Study Class
Investigate the angst, turmoil and heat of Williams characters in scenes from THE GLASS MENAGERIE, SUDDENLY LAST SUMMER, THE ROSE TATTOO. Scenes will be assigned during the first class.
Acting Techniques
Discover being in the moment and truth in acting. Class members have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities created by masters of teaching acting: Constantine Stanislavsky, Sanford Meiser and Uta Hagen. Have fun, gain confidence and learn about yourself while exploring your performance skills while examining the text of a contemporary play.
Interview Techniques
The body and the voice are the instruments employed when delivering the spoken word. Discover your authentic voice through vocal exercises and learn how to effectively communicate. Learn how speaking is enhanced through physical action. Confidently utilize diction, tone and inflection to clarify meaning. Become more aware of how elocution skills effect change.
Physical work includes exercises based on Alexander Technique and yoga.

Speech Training
Learning a new athletic skill, or a musical instrument, requires training, commitment and time. The voice and the body also need to train muscle groups and adapt new skills when it comes to public speaking.

Learn practical techniques to influence and impact your audience. Whether a work presentation, a keynote address or an interview, preparation is the foundation to successful communication. Activate your vocal skills with breath exercises and employing relaxation. Develop the poise and confidence to persuade, inform and inspire through strategies tailored to your needs as a speaker.

Approach your song as the story it is meant to be. Explore the narrative of your song, whether it is for an audition, performance or your own enrichment. Discover your truth in the lyrics and connect with each note. Bring two copies of the song and your music.

The College Audition
Preparation for the college audition includes the selection of monologues and a presentation that demonstrates a strong candidate. Actors are given techniques and strategies to utilize in the preparation. Learn how to enter and leave the audition room and how to navigate “eye contact” choices as well as when to use, a chair.

Monologues for Auditions
Give yourself the opportunity to personalize, break down and prepare different monologues. Emphasis is placed on strategies for rehearsal, and techniques for the “non acting” moments of the audition are given. Some direction of monologues will be provided. Students are encouraged to prepare and present monologues for adjudication at this time.

Scene Study One
Develop your understanding of the human condition while learning more about the craft of acting. Explore the circumstance of the text to find the present moment and truthful living of the character. Utilize script analysis techniques to bring an authentic voice to your character. Scenes are assigned by the first class.

“Be Not Afraid of Greatness”
An Acting Seminar consisting of scenes and monologues for TWELFTH NIGHT, (or what you will). Embrace the wit and insight of The Bard. During four gatherings, we will discuss and work on scenes and monologues from the comedy. This is followed by The Salon, which consists of an informal discussion and presentation in public.

Anton Chekhov Scene Study Class & The Salon
Examine scenes from early one acts, while exploring the significance of Chekhov’s work in modern drama. Scenes chosen and assigned from THE CHERRY ORCHARD and THE THREE SISTERS to work on in class and perform as a Salon later in the season.
